“Mephistopheles—September 6, 2013
Celebrate BRAVO! CLUB’s 22nd Annual Opening Night Gala in True Faustian Fashion!

The evening will begin on the heavenly side with a Champagne Promenade Reception on the elegant outdoor Loggia of the Opera House, followed by the opening night performance of Boito’s resplendent retelling of Goethe’s Faust, Mephistopheles. Following the performance give in to the temptation of worldly delights and join us for a devilish good time at Jardinière featuring a sumptuous spread of hors d’oeuvres and desserts, and dancing into the night!

A monumental work of “choral grandeur and melodic richness” (The New York Times), Mephistopheles is Boito’s emotionally thrilling, philosophically rich version of the Faust story featuring the most striking portrait of the Devil in the entire musical repertoire. Last seen in San Francisco more than 20 years ago, Robert Carsen’s acclaimed production returns as one of the most impressive productions ever staged at the War Memorial Opera House.”
